How many times in a day do you tell someone to ‘Have a great day’? I know that in one day, I could possibly say it about twenty times or more, face to face due to the nature of my job and also through emails for my blog. Never underestimate the power of that phrase, because it can really make someone’s day and make them feel like they can actually have a great day.
I am currently sat here on a Sunday, writing this post and tomorrow is Monday, the day of doom, but you know that by actively planning for the week, you will feel much more motivated and positive for what lies ahead. I use to hate Monday’s, like with utmost passion, mostly because I had no idea what to plan myself in for, nothing to look forward to and my whole diary was just a mess. Until, I started this blog, I learnt how to plan and use my time effectively and with the help of my manager at work, I learnt how to prioritise, motivate and challenge myself. So, nowadays, I love Monday’s! I use the early part of Sunday evening to plan my whole week, I start writing ideas for blog posts, planning my meetings/events and who I’m going to see etc. Getting my head right at the start of the day preps me for the whole week, so it’s super important for me get my arse in gear from the beginning. Here are some ways I use to ensure I always have a great start to the week and a great day most days.
Plan well – Lists are my life and I honestly wouldn’t know what to do without them. Call me old-fashioned or a granny, whatever, but lists ensure I keep my s**t together and you would never see me without one. I make lists ALL THE TIME, while I’m at my desk, while I’m in the bath, while I’m in the queue in the post office. I need to know what I’m doing at all times to ensure I don’t miss anything and everything is ticked off.
Know when to rest – I have become a lot better at this, I use to run round like a crazy woman every day trying to get things done, but have finally learnt of the word ‘chill’ and since then I have been able to just rest when my body tells me to. It’s really important to find time to do the things you enjoy to wind down and relax after a long day and it’s one of the best things to do to recuperate and cement a great day.
Rise as early as possible – To kick start your great day, rising early always will be the way forward. It is one of the most motivating things I have been able to achieve and it feels so much more rewarding towards the end of the day knowing you were able to get everything done because you started early. I always feel unstoppable on those days, like I’m on a mission to achieve incredible things and it is SO motivating.
Remain positive at all times – Positivity shines through and by practicing it daily, it ensures that no matter what life throws at you, you will have a positive outlook. Your thoughts, your actions, your words, ensure that whatever it is, it oozes positivity. I know it sounds easier said than done and I still haven’t perfected it yet, but by constantly drumming it in to my mind, the impact it has had, has been significant.
Give yourself a break - to ensure great days happen, it's always best to give yourself regular breaks throughout the day to build your energy levels back up again. It is no use to your health and your work if you continuously work throughout the day non-stop as your body and mind will feel tired and lethargic. By getting up and having shorts breaks every few hours, having a drink, taking a walk or doing some exercise, really helps to freshen your mind again, so you're ready to go for the next few hours.
Do you have any tips on having a great day? If yes, I'd love to know.
