Last month, I was invited down to visit Ingrid Raphael, a facialist who specialises in bespoke facial treatments using various products selected by Ingrid herself and prescribed to your skin type making the treatment bespoke and unique to each and every one of her clients. Her in-house salon based is based at Stamford Hill and is easily accessible by public transport. Upon meeting Ingrid, I felt immediately at ease, she is ‘the’ loveliest girl with the biggest smile and a whole world of beauty knowledge behind her. She used to work in Harrods as a therapist and very quickly built up a loyal clientele and after a period of time, she decided that she wanted to start her own business and alas, Ingrid Raphael Salon was born and the conversion in her own home makes for the perfect location.
As mentioned, the salon is an off-set of her own home in Stamford Hill, easily accessible by London Overground trains and if going by car, there is parking close by. Ingrid designed the salon herself which has a relaxed and comfortable feel to it – think white walls, fluffy cushions and cute hanging décor. Its super pretty and definitely got me inspired to create something similar for my home office. After a lengthy consultation (I say that in a good way because Ingrid asks all the questions about your skin so she can get to know it better therefore she knows exactly how to treat it) and learning a bit more about my skin, I was left to get comfy in the salon bed whilst Ingrid picked out the products best suited for me.
The facial is a one hour treatment, but Ingrid advises to book an hour and a half of your time because of the consultation and all the details included in it. As mentioned before, the products used in the facial are all hand-selected by Ingrid to suit individual skin concerns and these products are ‘hero’ items. The facial started off with a good cleanse, removing all make up and dirt. Next up a scrub was applied, followed by a good steam and then extraction - I hate extractions, it’s normally so, so painful, but Ingrid was super gentle and I felt so at ease. On to massage now and I do love a good facial one, it lasted a good 20 minutes which was amazing. A mask was applied after, followed by a lovely hand and arm massage, then the treatment finished off with moisturiser and some eye cream, complete bliss.
To say my skin was instantly brightened would be an understatement, my skin was absolutely glowing – it’s amazing to see what a facial can actually do for your skin, especially when the right products are used and you have therapist with so much experience and knowledge like Ingrid. Days after the facial, my skin was still looking its best and I learnt so much from Ingrid and followed all the maintenance steps she advised me of. A good facialist is honestly so hard to find and thank god, I’ve finally found her! I am so, so happy with the results and will definitely be returning. Ingrid and I spoke about a 9 month programme to get skin in tip-top form for my wedding next year, so I will definitely keep you all updated on that.
