If you’re like most people, then you probably love to travel in the sense that you love seeing and exploring new places, but you perhaps don’t relish the actual traveling to get there part. However, whilst most people are really not overly thrilled about the traveling part - especially when the default mode of transportation nowadays is flying, and although most people simply find flying annoying and uncomfortable due to the small seats and long lines in airports, etc, there are some people for whom flying just isn’t an option.
If you’re one of the people who is so afraid of flying that you refuse to get on a plane, then you may be thinking that traveling is probably going to be out of the question for you, but really it doesn’t have to be, so in this post I'm going to share with you some of the best ways to travel when you’re afraid to fly.
Trains are pretty great ways to travel and nowadays they’re also pretty comfortable, so even if you’re going on a longer journey, you’re going to find an easy way to get there with a train. Depending on where you’re planning on going, you can get trains across the country and even into other countries. You can get trains that you’ll sometimes be on for a few days, but honestly this isn’t as uncomfortable as it sounds since these trains will have things like restaurant carts and even private cabins with beds in them where you can sleep.
If you want to travel internationally without flying then a good way to do this is by boat. Of course it takes longer and you’ll typically be on a cruise, but the benefit of this is you see many different places without the stress that you’d endure when traveling through airports, so each day you’re going to wake up in a beautiful new location all whilst enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of your cabin and the ship itself. There are many great crusie companies out there today such as Bolsover Cruise Club where you can find lots of amazing deals.
If you’re afraid of flying, then taking your car and going on a road trip is a great way to experience the freedom that travel has to offer, and the great thing about going by car apart from the fact that it’s a lot cheaper than flying and other forms of transport is that it’s far less stressful as well since you can go at your own pace, have no schedule, and you can even make stops and see other places along the way.
Taking a road trip doesn’t mean you can only go with your car - for example, you can hire an RV or campervan that are fully equipped with all of the home comforts you’re used to and then take to the open road in a way that you’ll really enjoy, you can also make stops at nature spots and campsites along the way, which is a really fun way to travel that’s certainly very stress-free.
Travelling by bus may not be the most comfortable or enjoyable option, but it’s certainly affordable and it will definitely get you where you want to go. Busses are available for journeys nowadays in most major towns and cities across the world and they’ll connect you to other countries without too much hassle, so they’re a great way to get around and start seeing some other places if you’re willing to tolerate a bit of discomfort for a while. The good thing about this, bus travel is so affordable that you’ll really be able to save a lot of money that you can then use on other things during your trip, so this is one of the upsides of bus travel.
I hope that this post has helped you see that even if you have a fear of flying, it’s certainly not the only way to get around to see different places, and whilst it may be the most common method of transport for travelling, there are many other options available to you if you want to take advantage of them - it’s really just about doing your research and seeing how you can get around.
The other thing about going out and exploring other methods of transport is that you never know what cool things you might see on the way and what you might get to experience from trying something different.
