Passion For Fashion

I was recently contacted by MoneySupermarket in regards to a bloggers competition titled “Passion For Fashion“. The idea is to create five outfits for five occassions using my favourite online retailers. Each outfit has to be no more than £200 and include all aspects of the outfit, i.e shoes, accessories, bags etc.

The five occasions are:

  1. Office
  2. First Date
  3. Casual
  4. Outdoor
  5. Party

There will be six winners in total, one for each category and an overall winner. The category winners will receive £200 to spend on the outfit they’ve put together and the overall winner gets £1000 to spend on all five outfits and a shiny new Ipad 3! Amazing prizes right?

I have entered a similar competition before where I created some holiday looks in a previous post and I thoroughly enjoyed putting that together. So when this opportunity came along, I thought why not? It’s a challenge and I love challenges. Putting my creative mind and fashion styling skills to the test, below are my entries for the five categories.

All images used are sourced from the respective websites listed in the links below.

Shoes – New Look £24.99, Jumper – Missguided £12.99, Trousers – Topshop £50.00, Shirt – Boohoo £20.00, Bag – Zara £49.99

A day in the office for me will need to consist of being smart yet comfy. The light grey trousers paired with a white studded shirt is the ultimate savvy, working girl look with an edge. I also chose a simple black knitted jumper to layer over the shirt as sometimes the office can get a little chilly due to the air conditioning so it’s something easy just to throw on. Commuting to work in heels can be a pain, therefore a pair of wedged heel ankle boots will ensure that you’re comfortable without sacrificing the smart look. This tote bag from Zara is called “Office City Bag”, which literally sums up everything I need to describe about it! It’s a good size to carry all your essentials in and looks a little bit like the Prada Saffiano bag that costs over £1000!

Total price: £157.97

Jacket – Topshop £55.00, Clutch – River Island £27.00, Dress – River Island £20.00, Necklace – H&M £3.99, Bangles – H&M £3.99, Boots – Missguided £34.99

A first date is always very nerve wracking. What to wear is all I think about, not even how I will come across or whether he will like my personality, first impressions is what sticks and I know for sure that I always look at what they’re wearing. Keeping it simple, I chose this cute pastel pink shift dress matched with a pair of heeled boots to give a you little extra height and they’re also a dupe of the Topshop Psychic boots but for less than half the price, bargain! Small details can go the extra mile, so a pretty spiked collar necklace and bangles set are just the right amount for a first date. Grab a leather biker jacket, pack a few bits in your clutch and off you go.

Total price: £144.97

Jumper – Lavish Alice £21.00, Jeans – Topshop £40.00, Ring – Missguided £5.99, Earrings – New Look £2.99, Bag – Zara £39.99, Shoes – Topshop £48.00

Casual wear for me generally consists of jeans and a tee or jumper. So this studded jumper (have you noticed that I have chosen a studded item in every outfit? I love this trend) teamed with a pair of blue grey jeans is the perfect combintaion, it’s very chilled, yet stylish. I’ve added these wedge trainers for comfort, a tanned bag to carry your day to day bits and some light jewellery to complete the look.

Total Price: £157.97

Bag – Topshop £36.00, Necklace – Miss Selfridge £7.50, Tights – H&M £6.99, Jumper – Topshop £48.00, Belt – Zara £15.99, Skirt – Topshop £34.00, Boots – Glamorousuk £29.99

Braving the winter chill, this knitted mohair jumper, tucked in to this rich oxblood skirt and thick tights will keep you keep all snuggly and warm. A comfortable pair of black heeled boots (dupe for the Topshop Alexy’s) will ensure you look ever so chic for those outdoor activties. Slinging on a plain cross necklace, pack a scarf and some gloves in your backpack and off to the great outdoors you go.

Total price: £178.47

Cross bracelet – Miss Selfridge £7.50, Heart bracelet – Topshop £8.50, Clutch – New Look £9.99, Dress – Missguided £24.99, Nail polish (Disco Inferno) – Models Own £5.00, Nail polish (Copper Pot) – Models Own £5.00, Earrings – H&M £2.99, Boots – Zara £69.99

Total price: £133.96

It’s party time! This on trend peplum dress is perfect for a night out, it’s simple, yet detailed with the emphasis on the neck and shoulder area. It is also fitted in the right areas to enhance your figure. Instead of pairing with high heels, I decided to go with some beige coloured boots not only for comfort and warmth also to hide your toes if you haven’t had time to paint them. The patterned clutch was a bargain find from the New Look site, to me it has this vintagey feel and the gold detailing matches the rest the of the outfit quite well. I wanted the jewellery to be subtle so the bracelets and earrings are a little added effect along with the gold nails.

So, that’s all my entries for the competition. What do you think of the outfits I have put together? Which one is your favourite?

Thank you to MoneySupermarket for contacting me about this challenge, I had a great time putting it together.
