My Current Top Five Red Lipsticks

how to find the perfect red lipstick

how to wear red lipstick

I never use to be a red lip kind of girl, I always thought it looked too bright against my skin tone and washed me out on every occasion. However, towards the end of last year, I started being a lot more braver and sported the red lip on a number of occasions only to be given some lovely compliments which spurred me on to try different tones of red, be it a bright red, a pinky red and even the dark reds. Slowly, I started to gain a lot more confidence in wearing red lipstick and now I can’t get enough of it. So in today’s post, I thought I’d give you a little low down on my current top five, favourite red lip products.

pixi brilliance balm red

1) Pixi Tinted Brilliance Balm in Rosy Red – A bright, cherry red that glides on effortlessly and leaves a lovely dewy finish to the lips. This balm is the he most perfect red for spring/summer and the fact that it is ultra-moisturising just tips it right over the edge.

mac ruby woo red

2) MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo – A classic favourite in the beauty world as well as my world. This lipstick has a matte finish that doesn’t dry out your lips and leaves a highly pigmented, cool toned red behind.

rimmel apocalips big bang red

3) Rimmel Apocalips in Big Bang – This one has been a firm favourite for while. Super duper pigmented with a shiny  finish. You can either wear this just by dabbing little patches on and rubbing in for that pinched red look or full on glam with the bright, in your face colour.

boutique plum luck red

4) Boutique By Sainsburys Lipstick in Plum Luck – The darker one of the bunch and the one that is the best bargain ever! Stocked in your local supermarket right now is collection of make up to die for. This lipstick is creamy, leaves a smooth finish behind and lasts absolutely ages.

mac viva glam rihanna red

5) MAC Lipstick in Viva Glam Rihanna – This bright red with a frosted finish is the newest addition to the collection. I’m never usually frosted lipstick fan, but because this was limited edition MAC (sucker for limited edition packaging) and part of the cost was going towards charity, I thought why not give it a go and I was not disappointed at all. This applied smoothly and gave the most amazing red lip.
