Tips For Tidying Your Wardrobe and Setting Up A My Own Workspace

This post has been rather amusing to type, people who know me dearly will probably laugh when they see the title of this post and think “Is she serious?”. Well, finally I have got my act together and made my overflowing wardrobe look immaculate and tidy. Now, I haven’t completely finished yet – that’s why I not sharing any pictures of it in this post, but rest assured that once it’s all good, I may do some sort of room tour post or video.

In order to get organised, I did a number of things to motivate myself which included crying in to homeware catalogues and wishing my wardrobe looked like the pictures #jokes. I mostly wrote lists, lots of lists of what I wanted to do/tidy, put deadlines against those tasks and worked away at them. So today, I thought I’d share my top three tips for those who are still trying to find their way in to a more cleaner and organised wardrobe.

Tip One – Literally take everything out of the cupboard and I mean everything. Once it’s all out on the floor, you will hate the sight of it and want to make it look all nice and pretty.

Tip Two – While you’re nicely folding or hanging away items, look out for the ones you don’t wear anymore and put them aside. There are so many ways that you can make money out of items that you don’t want and you will be surprised at how much people would want your stuff.

Tip Three – Keep it up! Make sure you dedicate some time each week to re-look at your wardrobe again and make necessary adjustments. If something looks creased or out of place, fix it, grab the  steamer or an iron, organise your clothing by colour codes or whatever you can think of to make yourself feel like you have a brand new garments every week, I know your bank balance will definitely thank you for it.

Next on my list, I’m going to be looking at trying to set up an office space for myself. Sitting on the bed with a laptop all day is not doing wonders for my back at all. Firstly, I need to establish where in my room I can set this up. I don’t particularly have a big room, so I really need to compromise with space. So for the next few months, I have set some goals for myself.

Goal one – Establish where in my room will my workspace be set up. I need light, lots of it, so it’ll probably be by the window, I just need to get rid of the massive sewing machine table that belongs to my mum, I don’t know why I agreed to let her put it there!

Goal two – Think of a theme. I strongly believe that a bright and clutter free space will make me work better, so I’m gearing towards a white desk with some bright stationary. A great video from Michelle Phan really inspired me.

Goal Three – Put together a “Dream workspace” saving fund starting today. I’m going to try my best to put a little money in each week, so I can get the furniture I want. Saving has never been so fun!

So, that’s it! My top three tips in a nutshell and my goals of a dream workspace in the next few months. I hope you found them useful and please let me know if you use them or how you organise and tidy your wardrobe, maybe I can pick up some tips from you guys. Also, if you have any inspiration on how I should decorate my workspace, please drop me a email or a tweet, any suggestions welcome. Thanks so much!
