Summer Beauty: SPF For The Body

Today, for my summer beauty series, I’m going to talk about SPF for the body. Now, we all know (well, I hope) that the higher the protection factor, the better it is for you. No matter what skin type you are, you will burn and if you don’t protect yourself, this can lead to a harmful skin condition, known as skin cancer. Now, the highest skin protection factor that I have seen on the market is 50, these are generally aimed for children and those with fairer skin types, but that doesn’t mean people with darker skin types can’t use it too. The lowest I’ve seen is 2 which was an oil formula and these ones are a definite no, no, they barely have any SPF in them and just don’t give you any type of protection whatsoever. The best factor for my skin type and this is totally based on what suits me, is 30 and I tend to find the creamy formulas much more better for my skin.

A few top picks from me include this ‘Protection 50‘ from Dermalogica, the classic favourite from SPF 30 from Nivea and an easy-to-use sun spray with SPF 15 from the Boots Soltan range.

Dermalogica Protection 50 Sport £29.00 (*) – A sheer, solar protection treatment that defends against prolonged exposure to UV light as well as being a lightweight formula to ensure there is no greasy after-feel. Perfect for those who are active sports people that spend long amounts of time in the sun.

Nivea Sun Protect and Refresh Sun Lotion SPF 30 £7.50 (*) – With a refreshing and cooling effect after application, this has got to be one of my favourites. A light, hydrating lotion that absorbs instantly and leaves your skin silky smooth and protected.

Boots Soltan Dry Touch Suncare Spray SPF 15 £6.00 (*) – Specially formulated to dry within 60 seconds to ensure sand won’t stick to your skin after application. As well as being ultra-lightweight, it rubs in easily and provides continuous moisturisation for silky, soft skin.

What SPF are you using at the moment?

Great products you have listed here! I''m currently using a Hawaiian Tropic sunscreen for my body, it smells good and feels good on my skin!
