Cornwall, Penzance – St Michael’s Mount

With over a thousand years of incredible history, no wonder St Michael’s Mount is one of the most popular places to visit in Penzance, Cornwall. Along with Dan and a couple of friends, we made this spot one of the first to see on our week long holiday and oh my, were the views completely breathtaking.

We hopped along to the island in a boat, you can actually walk across, but due to the tides being a little high that day, it wasn’t possible to do that. We also bought tickets to visit the medieval castle, which I must say, could of been a little more informative as there wasn’t a lot to read in general and unfortunately, the garden was closed also (open on Thursdays and Fridays only). Apart from that, we enjoyed taking in the amazing views, I will let the pictures do the talking and I’ll catch you at the end!

All in all, I enjoyed visiting St Michael’s Mount, for the views alone, it is definitely worth it. We paid £8 each to enter the castle, so if you’re not really a fan of castles, then I’d opt out of this. The boat ride is £2 each way, which in my opinion is rather extortionate, that’s £4 for a return! But I guess, that is tourism prices for you.

Have you been to St Michael’s Mount before? If not, will you consider visiting if you took a trip to Cornwall?

I'm so jealous that you got to go! We read about it in French class and ever since, I've really wanted to see it myself.

I've been here a few times as every two years during my childhood my family visited Cornwall. The scenery is beautiful as you said, and being a child I loved the story that is told along the way – especially when you're told to look out for the giant's heart!
