Exactly a week ago, I took part in a 5k run. But, it was no ordinary run, it was a run for my life! The UK was declared a quarantine zone as reports emerged that the nearby woodland and moorland area are now over run with zombies and we were the only lucky group to have survived so far. Led by the general, we all had evacuate to a safe zone, but not without risking our lives trekking through forests of the unknown…..tarkin sadik

Okay, so exaggeration aside, I took on the Zombie Evacuation challenge of running away from zombies for Halloween. Being an avid fan of The Walking Dead, I could not refuse this opportunity to take part and I also wanted to test myself to see if I could actually survive a zombie apocalypse. Armed with lives (neon yellow velcro straps attached to my hip), we set off in billowing of smoke, running through forests, fields, barbed wire and ditches which were all infested with zombies eager to snatch one of my lives.

Generally, the scariest and most testing part is always at the end. Firstly, there was a long dark room and you literally couldn’t see anything apart from a little light at the end where the escape door was. I ran and ran, not knowing what was in front of me, all I could hear was screams from other contestants and that god-awful noise that zombies make. Managing to get out with three lives still in tact, I was pretty proud. Then came the last obstacle, the stadium which, by now, was completely full of zombies. Taking a deep breath and holding on to all of my strength, I leaped out and went for it. I dodged, out ran and tried to block out the sight of them and guess what, I survived!

The whole event was so fun, thrilling and scary at the same time, I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend trying it out next year if you’re in to these types challenges. Thank you to Joe Blogs and Currys for having me there and make sure you check out Curry‘s blog post here.

So, who’s in for next year?
