This post is a little different to my usual content, but it does carry a very strong and important message. In collaboration with Anthony Nolan who is currently working on a campaign to highlight the urgent need for more stem cell donors to save the lives of people with blood cancer, Designer Ashish has created a t-shirt for Anthony Nolan which carries the slogan #IGiveASpit.
The meaning behind the slogan and the campaign is to highlight the fact that joining the register simply involves spitting in to a tube – and caring enough to do it. This initiative for the blood cancer charity is all about raising awareness because they urgently need more young people, in particular men aged between 16-30, to give ‘give a spit‘ about blood cancer.
Did you know that currently, only 60% of patients are able to find a perfect match on the stem cell register? The more young people sign up, just by giving their spit, the more lives can be saved. The registration process is very easy and all details can be found on the Anthony Nolan website, so learn more, sign up now and one day you could go on to donate your stem cells to give someone, somewhere a chance of survival and a lifesaving bone marrow transplant.
I am taking part in the campaign and customised a version of the t-shirt, which you can pick up from Anthony Nolan’s eBay site or YrStore in Topshop-Topman on Oxford Street if you want to get involved. Please take part in the campaign and raise awareness for this great cause by tagging a young man around you on social media with the hashtag #IGiveASpit and encourage them to get on the register.
