The Basics Of Everyday Make Up

It’s been a while since I last did an everyday make up post, in fact, I think it was since the start of this blog. I have done a video of my everyday make up previously, but as for a blog post, it’s been a good while. So I thought that in today’s post, I’d give you a bit of a run down of the basics of my current make up routine.

Primer – Using a good primer is essential for the wear of make up, I’m sure most already know that. Setting up that good base will allow make up can be applied flawlessly and will ensure it lasts all day. My current favourite is Dermalogica’s Hydrablur. It’s of a creamy consistency which is slightly different to the gel-based ones I normally use, but it’s so moisturising and works really well in keeping my make up in tact.

Under Eye and Foundation – I only started using under eye correctors in the end part of last year and I honestly don’t know why it took me so long. The art lies in the application and a high quality product and the Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector is by far one of the best. The peachy-pink tone neutralises the appearance of dark circles and broken capillaries while also brightening the area and leaves a smooth base for concealer. As for foundation, I constantly switch and my current go-to is Inika’s Liquid Mineral Foundation. A certified organic cream base, this gives me the most perfect finish and applies so incredibly well, my skin actually feels like there is nothing on it. The coverage is medium and blends seamlessly, leaving no residue, only a flawless complexion.

Make Up Brushes – It is super, super important in my make up routine to use a good set brushes for application. I had been through a good bout of faddy brushes before I finally settled on a set of what I would say are ‘the essentials‘ to my day to day routine and Crown Brush were the latest addition to that set. I particularly enjoy using the Flat Foundation brush as it blends the product so well and really makes my skin look completely flawless.

Eyeshadow Palettes – I must admit, I do have a soft spot for eyeshadow palettes, to an extent where I don’t actually purchase single pots of shadows anymore and all I ever use these days are palettes, making them a basic need in my everyday make up. The one I have been reaching out for a lot, is The Balm’s Nude’Tude Eyeshadow Palette which has all the neutral shades you need for the perfect day to day look. Each shade is beautifully pigmented, blends well and  in turn, makes my daily routine ever so simple and easy.

Highlight – The highlight is now considered as an essential to my every day look and I actually feel bare if I haven’t highlighted for the day. We all know Becca is now the queen of highlighters and their Shimmering Skin Perfectors are literally the most gorgeous products I have ever laid my eyes on. The Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured is a cream textured highlighter that is easy to apply and creates a natural glow with a dewy finish. Using my fingertips to pat the product along my cheekbones, bridge of the nose and the high points of my face, the result is a gorgeous, enhanced complexion.

Lips – I have always been a lippie girl through and through and I rarely leave the house without some sort of stick, balm or gloss on them, so this post wouldn’t be complete if lip colour wasn’t a basic in my every day routine. I recently received the new Lancome Juicy Shakers which I must say, are the cutest lip products I own right now. They’re lipglosses with a bi-phase formula of lip oils and colour pigments which create natural, plump lips with a few dabs. As well as giving my lips a nice layer of colour, they’re also non-sticky and non-drying meaning my lips will always be soft and moisturised.

What are your make up basics?

I've seen the Juicy Shakers everywhere and they look so, so good! I kind of want to add these to my collection now… But for now my routine consists o a few clicks of YSL touche éclat, Benefit Hoola bronzer, Urban Decay naked eyeshadow all over the eye, a flick of Kat Von D liner and any lipstick that tickles my fancy that day. Oh and some eyebrow gel of course Easy peasy!

Just been catching up on your blog, that eyeshadow palette looks really awesome. I've had so many makeup free days the past few months I just (to be honest) can't be bothered but this has inspired me to do so again!
