Getting Back In To The Spring Of Things

how to feel motivated for summer

Eeeek! We’re approaching the end of April already, how are you guys getting on with those resolutions/goals that you set yourself at the beginning of the year? Even though, I didn’t share what I wanted to achieve this year on the blog (all the previous years I did), I did, in fact, set myself three main targets to work on, ones that are achievable and realistic. Goal one was to get in to fitness and if I was to be true to myself, I have slacked slightly in this area. Goal two was to eat more healthily which I have done so, but could do better and goal three, was to spend more time resting and not burn myself out, this I feel I have probably achieve the most of.

So, it’s time for me to get back in to the swing of things for spring! As the days are much more lighter and people are so much more excited for the warmer weather, I need to up my game and work harder on those goals.

I recently started training properly and realised just how unfit I was, so now I am determined to get my fitness levels back on track and start preparing for that way overdue summer body. Working out is something of a foreign nature to me, one because I have no idea what to do, and two, I get super embarrassed because I always feel that people are watching me while I’m working out. Luckily, there are so many cool work outs that I can find on YouTube and I can do them in the comfort of my own home which is just perfect for me. Equipment wise, all I need is good water bottle, rope and a tracker to ensure that I’m burning those calories as well as keeping track of my workouts.

Dan recently bought a book of recipes called Lean In 15 by Joe Wicks and in there are some scrummy and healthy recipes that require minimal effort and time and we are absolutely loving it. Eating healthily balanced alongside a good work out is everyone’s dream and this spring, I am going in for the kill. Eating more vegetables is on the top of my goals list and luckily for me, Dan is pretty good at ensuring I get enough of it daily and with this nifty spiralizer, it makes all the vegetables look super pretty.

Wind down time has definitely become my favourite time of the evening lately and also one of the things I promised myself I’d do more often this year. I absolutely love lighting a candle (this Liz Earle one is amaze balls by the way) as it sets a nice ambience in the room and also makes it smell incredible. As well as relax time, I also wanted to get, at least seven hours kip a night and after sampling the This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray over a year ago, I have become hooked on the stuff and in the past four months, my sleep has been so much more better. As for skincare, I have always been pretty good with it and the one cleanser that I always go back to and never fails me is Liz Earle’s Cleanse & Polish. Honestly, it’s so good and if you haven’t tried it before, you have never lived.

What goals did you set yourself this year and how are you staying motivated?
