Singapore! One of my favourite countries to visit and every time I come back, there is always something new and exciting to catch up on and that’s what I always love about this place. For my first week, I stayed at the Holiday Inn Singapore, Orchard City Centre which is located on Cavenagh Road. With over three hundred rooms conveniently located along Singapore main’s shopping belt, Holiday Inn is the perfect hotel for a staycation. The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) serves easy transport links to all the most popular districts such as Chinatown, Little India and Bugis as well as attractions such as Gardens By The Bay, Merlion and The Flyer. So let’s set foot inside shall we?
The Room – I was based in a Premier Room on the 8th floor which is the highest floor of the hotel. Each room is equipped with a 37-inch LCD TV, bath tub with 3 shower-head functions, seven (yes, seven) pillow options for ultimate comfort and complimentary wi-fi access. All rooms are spacious enough for comfort and for those who are away on business trips, there’s a huge desk for you to work on while you’re away. There is housekeeping service every day should you require it, but if you don’t, there is an option to receive either 500 IHG points (if you’re a IHG member) or $10 off one of the restaurants which are great incentives in my opinion. Within the hotel, there is also an Executive Club Lounge which is offered to guests who booked Executive Rooms. Having club lounge access means you get to enjoy complimentary breakfast, lunch snacks, dinner snacks and drinks as well as free morning newspaper delivered to your room.
The Facilities – The roof-top pool was by all means, my favourite place to relax and catch some rays. The comfy lounge chairs and quiet environment is the perfect place for a morning relax and swim. It was rather cloudy during my time in Singapore, so the mornings were definitely the best time to catch the sun. For all the fitness fanatics out there, you’ll be pleased to hear that there is a well-equipped gym on the same floor to ensure you keep up with your routine. Again, it is quiet and peaceful, so there’s no disturbance while you’re working out. For those looking to host events, there are eleven function rooms to choose from. Whether it’s for a wedding, conferences or banqueting, there’s definitely a choice for all.
Food and Beverages – Within the hotel, there are three spots where you can sample the food on offer. Firstly, the breakfast at both the Window In The Park and the Executive Lounge were amazing. You can have classic continental style breakfast or opt for the full-on cooked breakfast to fill an empty morning stomach. There is so much variety to choose from, I was honestly, spoilt for choice. The lounge and bar area situated in the lobby area is best for trying out the high tea or savoury snacks coupled with some delicious tasting cocktails. Lastly, the award-winning restaurant, Tandoor located in the basement offers authentic North Indian cuisine and is quite possibly one of the best I’ve tried. I sampled the set menu and which contained five courses and a plethora of naan bread that was freshly baked and still warm when presented on the table. My favourite was definitely the chicken tikka kebab and the butter chicken curry, it was just so tasty and cooked to perfection.
I’ve honestly had the best time staying at the Holiday Inn, Orchard City Centre and the service has been fantastic. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel, either for work or leisure as everything needed is right on your doorstep. I can’t wait to return one day and will definitely stay here again.
