Let me tell you a little secret…..growing up, I was always a bit of a timid, shy girl who kept herself to herself. I didn’t have a lot of friends (still don’t actually, but the ones I do have, I adore them to bits), wasn’t super confident in the way I presented myself and always kept in the distance from others. I was also afraid of what people thought about me, how they see me and how they judge me. But being a grown woman now and since starting this blog, many things have changed and I am now much more vocal (in a good way by the way), less insecure and more accepting of my flaws as they will never be perfect, a girls gotta admit it. There’s nothing more freeing than embracing your own true self and letting go of what is holding you back.
A few things that make me feel confident (by all means, they’re not revolutionary, but do make a difference) include:
1) A tan
Be it real or fake, having bronzed skin gives me that much-needed confidence boost and makes me look so much more healthier.
2) Wearing a floaty dress
You know that feeling of walking down a street on a summer’s day, swinging that dress from side to side? Yeah, that feeling, it makes me feel super confident and glamorous.
3) A spritz of my favourite perfume
My all-time favourite scent is Stella McCartney’s Stella and every time I wear it, I feel so feminine, comfortable and ready to take on anything. It’s the perfect everyday scent too, so whenever I feel like I’m in need of a bit of boosting, I will reach for my fave bottle of fragrance.
“A smile is a curve that sets everything straight” and it’s also the curve that gives me the most confidence. I don’t have the world’s whitest or straightest teeth, I don’t have those Angelina Jolie lips, but what I do have is something that is unique to your own self and that is your own smile. Through that smile, everyone oozes confidence, use it.
5) Supporting and complimenting others
There is nothing better than making someone’s day by giving them support or a compliment. It is a huge confidence boost for yourself and for the person you’re giving it to, don’t underestimate the power of it.
