I am no stranger to IHG hotels and Intercontinental Singapore may just be one of the best ones I have stayed at, coupled with the fact that it is situated in one of my favourite places ever - makes it so much more special.

Located minutes away from Marina Bay and the Central District and only a short 20-minute drive from Changi Airport, Intercontinental is convenient for all travellers wanting to explore the main parts of Singapore and offers easy access to the city by car or by Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) from Bugis train station which is only a 5-minute walk away. The adjoining Bugis Junction shopping mall is one of my favourite things about the hotel – offering over 200 dining, shopping and entertainment options, I never ran out of food choices and as a self-confessed shopaholic, I found new shops every day to explore in.

I had the pleasure of staying in the Heritage Wing side of the hotel and I can tell you now that it was absolutely amazing! The rooms and suites located on the Heritage Wing side are a reminiscent of traditional shophouse living coupled with a soothing colour palette of, what I call – duck egg blue and it’s actually one of my favourite colours and timber flooring. The room was super spacious – there was a two seater couch on the side, a huge king size bed facing the TV, a vintage brown working desk and a bathroom fit for a queen – think marble everywhere – I love a blogger cliché. I also had Club Intercontinental access, which meant I was open to host of complimentary services such as personalised check in/check out, breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails in the club lounge, professional secretarial services and many more. I would 100%, highly recommend club access with all bookings as it gave my stay an extra special touch that I will always remember.

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the friendliest of staff who immediately took my luggage so I could check in smoothly. The lobby area was probably one of my favourite places to hang out – I legit spent a lifetime taking pictures of all the little details and taking in as much of the atmosphere as possible. There was seating area galore and at every corner I turned, I saw a smiley face waiting to assist me if needed. One evening, I took a magazine, wondered off in to the lobby area and just sat there for a couple of hours, reading and people watching, it was so peaceful and I loved it!

Outdoor Pool and Fitness Centre

The rooftop pool is honestly pretty insane in my opinion, it’s perfect for spot of sunbathing and swimming and if you’re a fan of city views – you can get an amazing sight of the city from the rooftop. I found that mornings were the best time to head up there as it’s slightly more chilled and I really loved taking in the atmosphere. Throughout the day, it got a little busier, but not too bad overall. I didn’t venture in to fitness centre, but upon having a quick glance, it looked fully equipped with everything a fanatic would need – from running to bike machines, weight-lifting, a sauna and they even have yoga rooms which is great.

Dining – where to start? To say I spent the majority of my time in the club lounge would be a bit of an understatement (breakfast and afternoon tea was amazing), however, I did venture out in to the lobby lounge for a coffee and now I wish I tried the Ash & Elm restaurant. My friend sampled the steak there recently and said it was one of the best she tried, gutted – but there’s always next time. Ash & Elm serve European cuisine, whereas Man Fu Yuan specialises in Chinese cuisine. Both menus look absolutely delicious and I would highly recommend checking them out. The Victoria Bar has an English-style pub setting and I must admit, after a long day, it’s the perfect place to have a chilled drink and relax before heading back to the room.
