5 Carry On Beauty Essentials

5 carry on beauty essentials

I need beauty products with me at all times – that is a fact, whether it’s at my desk, in my handbag or even on my bedside table, there is always some sort of something hanging about for those ‘just in case’ moments you know. Travelling is no different and having something to comfort me on plane journeys is just as important as my passport and money, haa! No joke though – I’m being utterly serious. As plane journeys are restricted to a certain amount you can take, I have put together my top 5 carry beauty essentials to share with you all today – hope you enjoy!

carmex skinny dip lip balm
Carmex Lip Balm

Lip balm is a no brainer for me when travelling, the pressure and air on a plane is probably the most drying ever, so I always find that my skin and my lips get super dehydrated. Carrying a pot of Carmex keeps my lips hydrated and moisturised at all times and prevents the skin from cracking. The original version smells like vanilla buttercream and is absolutely gorgeous and they also have a cherry version that’s equally as moreish.

When flying, I also ensure I take a face moisturiser with me because as already mentioned, the air on planes are particularly drying and without a good face cream, my skin suffers a lot. This Works In Transit Skin Defence SPF 30 not only hydrates, it also protects thanks to the sun protection factor inside. The texture of the cream is light and absorbs quickly and it can be applied at any point in the day – I find it works best when applied straight after cleansing as it absorbs well and makes my skin feel super soft.

Another hydrating product – you know I love them, give me them all and I will be a very happy lady indeed, haa! I love packing a facial mist in my carry-on bag and for holidays in general because they’re just so handy for a quick moisture boost, to set make up and to refresh the skin. This one has aloe vera in it too which means it soothes and cools the skin as well as hydrates. I absolutely love the scent also, which is rose and you know rose and I have a very good relationship.

Optrex Warming Eye Masks

For long journeys in particular, I like to relax my eyes using an eye mask. They help me feel comfortable and thanks to this genius creation from Optrex, which warms up when activated with air, my eyes feel completely soothed, moistened and ready for rest. I have had some funny looks whilst using these though, some actually think they look like sanitary towels – how? I have no idea, but your girl is going to rock that look regardless because these are a must on any trip.

I only recently started using electric toothbrushes, but as soon as I switched over, I definitely saw a difference in the condition of my teeth. But taking my full kit away can be a bit of a pain, so this Sonic Chic Toothbrush is super handy for travelling, easy to charge and works just as good as my Oral B one. I just love the fact that it’s so stylish and slimline and can easily fit in to my travel bag taking up next to none space.

Love this post Julie – my skin is awful during and after a flight and I keep meaning to look for something suitable. The ‘this works’ and Clarins look amazing, and I didn’t know heated eye masks existed!

    I also love:

    Papayagold paw paw lip balm
Lavender pillow spray for my trusty travel pillow! (works a treat)
Origins GinZing eye cream for waking up

An air hostess once told me to use vicks nasal spray before boarding a flight but I can’t quite remember why… something about congestion.

Also, a little unrelated to travel but have you tried Charlotte Tilbury’s magic cream? I’m OBSESSED.
