Winter Make Up Menu

Winter make up is one of my faves – I love getting in to the darker and frostier colours, the deeper contours and festive red lip. Winter also houses my favourite occasion of the year which is Christmas - so naturally, I get in to the spirit and experiment with make up a lot more. There’s nothing better than having make up that not only looks fabulous, but also lasts all day or night or both with minimal touch ups, so I have rounded up my winter make up menu for today’s post, let me know if some of your favourites are among the list too!

Starting off with a soft and smooth base, I have been loving the Frances Prescott Tri-Balm – a multi-purpose product that cleanses, exfoliates and moisturises creating a smooth canvas for me to work on. To prime, I am using the Estee Lauder The Mattifier Shine Control Primer to ensure my foundation will last and to prevent shine. To conceal, I am currently loving the Benefit Boi-ing Airbrush Concealer to keep those dark circles at bay and to provide a stronger base for foundation. I do love a good, full coverage foundation for winter, so I am opting for the Models Own Pro-Foundation Stick to give me a flawless face, this actually feels super light on the skin and is so easy to apply – I always use my Artis Oval 8 Brush and then blend with the Gosh Mix & Fix Blender Brush. To set, I am using the Rimmel #Insta Fix & Matte Powder to ensure everything stays in place. For contour, I am going with my Kiko Baked Bronzer from the Desert Dunes range (which sadly isn’t available anymore, but they have a very, very similar one in store at the moment) to give me a defined and sculpted look, yet subtle and not too OTT which is perfect for a day time look. Highlight is one of my favourite parts of make-up application – I mean, who doesn’t love a good ‘glow from the stars’ highlight, for my winter look, I am going with the Kiko Highlighting Drops gently dabbed on my cheekbones and my nose, then I will go over with the Too Faced Love Lights Highlighter in Ray Of Light. Both highlighters are so pigmented, a little goes a long way and it lasts all day too.

On to eyes, to start, I am priming with the Diego Dalla Palma Eye Primer to ensure my eye shadow lasts all day – the consistency of this primer is smooth and matte providing a good and tight base for eye colour. For eyeshadows, I am using a mix between the Kiko Less Is Better Palette and the MUA Pro Palette in Magnetic Charm, I love the shades in both of these compacts and they’re perfect for an everyday eye look and you can build for a glam evening face too. I am also using the Diego Dalla Palma Precision Eye Shader Brush which is so soft and distributes the colour nicely. Brows wise, I opting for the Gosh Brow Shape & Fill, it applies so well and gives me brows to die for, so I’m not going to complain! Finishing off with a slick of the Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara and voila, eyes done.

To finish off my winter make up look, I am adding the famous red lip, but first I need to prep - so I do this step before I start applying any make up, I apply a layer of the Kiehls Lip Balm #1 to my lips and let it settle. By the time, I get to applying actual lip colour, my lips will be super soft and free from any dry skin. My lip colour of choice this winter is the Lancome L’Absolu Gloss Cream in Caprice which is a gorgeous bright red that is comfortable and non-sticky, making it perfect for the festive party season.
