5 Things To Do For Your Skin Right Now

skincare, skincare routine, how to have a skincare routine

I have always loved skincare since my younger teenage years – I guess it all started when my elder sister started working and splurged on expensive products in which I would secretly try out myself (sssshhh, don’t tell her). As I watched her skin glow, I knew that as I got older, skincare was going to be a huge part of my life and I wasn’t wrong. I have a full-blown routine for skincare and thanks to this routine, I have been able to keep my skin at a good condition. I’m not saying that I have the best skin, because I do still suffer from breakouts, dehydration and dark spots etc, but I do feel that I give my skin the best treatment I can and by following some basic rules, it’s work a treat in ensuring I keep it looking the best it can. If you’re a skincare fanatic like me, then you’re probably already following some sort of rules, but if you’re not and you’re open to finding out what you can do for your skin, then read on to find out more.

Cleanse, cleanse and cleanse

This may be a no brainer, but cleansing the skin properly is super important. Imagine being out for the whole day, all that dirt and grime (if not washed off) will remain on the skin surface’s, ewww! The day I decided to use the double cleansing method was the day my skin was on its path to a cleaner and clearer complexion. Throughout the years, I have tested many cleansers of different consistencies and textures and I found that oils were the best for my skin which is why I absolutely love the Sister & Co True Cleanse Cleansing Oil. Made up from a blend of cold-pressed oils infused with rose otto and frankincense, it’s super gentle and removes every trace of make-up and dirt.

Moisture, no matter what

Regardless of the skin you have, moisturising is key, so if you think you don’t need to moisturise because you have oily skin for example, then you are wrong. Please don’t skip moisturising the skin, it is one of THE most important parts of skincare – think ‘the icing on the cake’, that’s what it is pretty much. Picking the right moisturiser is another daunting task, that’s why it’s always best to read up on reviews and/or head to a department store and speak to a specialist who can recommend the perfect one for your skin type. Consistency is also important as your skin needs to be able to absorb the product and not just sit on the surface. I am currently using Dr Roebuck’s Face Anti-Aging Moisturiser which hydrates, calms and soothes my skin whilst delivery anti-ageing benefits.

Mask it up

When you skin needs a treat, give it a treat, don’t neglect it. The best thing you can do when you feel a little bit run down is to give your skin some TLC. I have a routine which I religiously stick to, even when I go on holiday, I pack a mask to ensure I don’t miss out. It may sound like a chore, but trust me, your skin will thank you in the future. I am absolutely loving the Antipodes Halo Skin Brightening Facial Mud Mask – it draws out all the gunk on my face by deeply penetrating the pores and when washed off, my skin looks brighter and more radiant. Masks are the way forward guys, don’t miss this step in your routine.

Don’t forget the lips

Nobody likes crusty lips, I mean, it’s pretty ewww right? The long and short of it is, they need to be treated too. If you can keep a skincare routine on form, then you can add that extra step to ensure the lips are well treated too. I love the Blistex Daily Lip Conditioner for everyday use because it’s super moisturising, smells amazing and easy to pop in the handbag – yes, I count handy beauty products as an advantage.

Skin means body too

Lastly, don’t forget the skin on your body, there’s no point having an amazing skincare story to tell when you don’t take care of other parts of the body too. I know it takes time and I know it seems like a chore, but it needs to be done regardless and your skin will thank you in the future, trust me on this one. I’ve been through tons of body moisturisers/creams in the years and I’m currently using the Cocunat Deeply Nourishing Tropical Strawberry Body Mousse which I absolutely adore. It smells divine and feels incredible on the skin. The best thing about it is – it contains no silicones and petroleum derivatives, yet still manages to penetrate in to the skin to ensure it stays soft and smooth. The mousse consistency is lightweight also, which I love.
