Long lasting make up is always something we want to achieve. The amount of times I’ve dreamed of looking the same at the end of the day as I did at the beginning of the day, it’s always one of those things that is harder to achieve than the usual, but I have somehow figured out what works for me and here I am today, sharing these tips with you all. Just a quick background update, I am early 30’s and have oily/combination skin, so I tend to always go for products that give me a matte base as this holds the oil for longer before it appears on my skin. Read on to find out how I ensure my make-up lasts and what products I’m currently using.

Having a good skincare routine is super important - a, for the nourishment and maintenance of your skin in general and b, for make up to last longer, a good set of skincare products ensures it stays put for hours. I always make sure I spend enough time in the mornings applying what I need before even attempting to put any make up on and my top three must use products are serum, moisturiser and eye cream to set my base off nicely. I am absolutely loving the Dr Roebucks Perky Collagen Boosting Serum which tackles dull skin for a brighter looking complexion. Moisturiser wise, my current go-to is the Embryolisse Lisseur Bonne Mine which not only hydrates my skin, but also adds radiance. Lastly, for my eyes, I love the Tropic Eye Work Rejuvenating Serum, it’s innovative under-eye serum that reduces puffiness and combats dark circles. The roll-on style tip makes it super easy to apply also.

Before a special or big event where I know I need my make up to last all day, I try to use a face scrub the night before to remove dead skin cells and freshen up my skin. My favourite one at the minute is the Upcircle Coffee Face Scrub which gently buffs away dead and dry skin cells leaving my skin soft and smooth ready for make-up application.

Finally, when my skincare products have set, a primer goes on to my skin some lip balm to moisturise my lips before lipstick. Primer wise, the Estee Lauder The Illuminator Radiant Perfecting Primer is an absolute god-send. If you want your foundation and concealer to stay untouched all day, then you need this in your life. I also like to pop on a bit of lip balm before I put make up on to soften the skin, so it’s ready lipstick application at the end. My current favourite is the Ted Baker Vanilla Lip Balm, it’s super moisturising and smells incredible.
