It’s very important over the festive season to ensure you take care of yourself – all the rush and hustle and bustle of the crowds, shopping for your loved ones and social events etc. Taking time to look after your skin especially is much-needed. So, amongst all the gift wrapping of aromatherapy gift sets and selection of the Christmas food deals, take some time out, unwind, pour yourself a glass of wine and let’s talk important beauty routine steps we often forget because we are all so, so busy.
Deep cleansing is good
I always ensure I deep clean my skin at least once a week using either a gentle scrub or my current favourite, the Sanctuary Spa Warming Charcoal Detox Face Wash, it’s the perfect combination of a cleanser/mask and does wonders for my pores. People often relate deep cleansing to being quite harsh on the skin, but, your skin does need a good clear out now and again, so don’t be afraid and ensure it becomes an important step in your beauty routine.
Mask it up
Masking for a skincare routine is probably one that a lot of people forget on a regular basis, but actually treating your skin to a weekly ten minute nourish will promote skin health and radiate the skin instantly. When you have a gorgeous smelling mask to apply, that also helps get me in to gear, I’m currently loving the Too Cool For School Pumpkin Purifying 24k Mask which gives me all the autumn vibes, although it is pretty much winter now.
Moisturise to the max
Always listen to what you mama told you about moisturising because they’re always right. I like to pamper my skin now and again with a good moisturiser and adding in some face oil to give it that extra nourishing boost. Winter is a time where skin needs more, hydration so don’t forget this important step and ensure you moisturise twice a day. My absolute go-to combo is the Estee Lauder Revitalizing Supreme Anti-Aging Crème and mixing in some Aromatherapy Associates Revitalising Face Oil.
Keep those peepers fresh
A very important and last step we often forget is to look after the skin around our eyes. Investing in a good eye cream is key to ensure the delicate area around your eyes are well looked after. I always add this in as part of my evening skincare routine and take a good amount of time to dab the cream on and gently pat on the skin. An all-time favourite of mine is the Temple Spa Windows Of The Soul Eye Treatment Gel-Cream, it’s super lightweight and applies like a dream. It smells incredible too which is a bonus.
Nourish those lips
Dry lips are a big no, no, especially if you need to unleash those pouts. My last important step of this post is to always ensure you nourish those lips on a daily basis and don’t forget too often as it will have an impact especially in this weather now. An all round balm that I love is the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Lip Protectant, it’s deeply hydrating and lasts a long time, so it’s a definite winner for me.
