My Morning Skincare Routine

morning skincare routine

Morning skincare routines can sometimes be a minefield for people, especially for those who don’t know what products to use, not sure what steps to follow or they simply don’t have the time. I am on the same boat in regards to the timing front, I am not a morning person and when I get up for work, all I have is half an hour to get washed, changed, make up and I’m out the door. So improvising does come in to play for me, which is why I’ve come to master a morning skincare routine and wanted to share mine with you all today.

I use a four-step routine consisting of cleanser, moisture lotion, serum and moisturiser and it takes me roughly six minutes to do it all.

Cleanser

Cleansing is the most essential part of a skincare routine, especially in the mornings to replenish the skin. I love a good foaming cleanser and I’m currently using the Sanctuary Spa Triple Cleansing Mousse to revitalise my complexion and thanks to an addition of micro fine exfoliating powder, it also gives my skin a nice refresh ahead of my day.

Moisture Lotion

I have stopped using toner for the time being, and instead, added a moisture lotion to my routine for a double whammy of hydration. During the winter months, I found that my skin needed some extra moisture, so opted for the Curel Moisture Facial Lotion Enrich. Curel is a Japanese leading brand for sensitive skincare and this lotion acts as a first step liquid to enhance the effect of further moisturiser placed on top. My skin instantly feels soothed and less tight after using this which I love.

Serum

A powerful and much needed step for anti-ageing, I have been using serums for years as prep for moisturiser. It’s a great way to infuse your skin with nutrients for the day and my go-to at the moment is the Murad Revitalixir Recovery Serum. It’s a sphere infused serum which doubles as an eye cream also to help de-puff, hydrate and promote radiance. Saving time on multipurpose products is always a winner for me.

Moisturiser

To leave my skin softer than ever, moisturiser is always the answer and I never leave the house without applying it beforehand. I always prefer more of a lightweight cream for the day time, so Jalue’s Velvytt Skin Souffle is perfect for everyday use. It has whipped texture which glides on to my skin smoothly and gives me the most gorgeous glow.
