Glowing skin is one of those things that we all want to achieve, especially now that we’ve come in to spring and that glowy look is high up on the agenda right now. New season, new look, new glow, let’s do it! I have two ways of achieving the highlighted skin look, one way using skincare and the other way is with make-up.
There is no lie that glowing skin can come from good skincare, but there are some particular products that can elevate a glow whether you’re having a no make-up day or even as a base for a full face. Step forward Glycolic Acid, gradual tanning products and water textured moisturisers, these three product types are my absolute go-to’s when my skin needs that extra bit of brightening. Glycolic Acid is a gentle exfoliator which is usually applied using cotton pads, I have recently started using the Evolve Liquid Radiance Glycolic Toner which is great for light exfoliation and refining the texture of the skin, leaving a lovely glow. Moving on to tanning drops, I use them, maybe twice a week, mixed in with my moisturiser, depending on how tanned I want to be and Tropic’s Sun Drops Gradual Tanning Facial Serum are perfect for giving me a streak-free, sun-kissed glow. It’s the perfect addition when my skin is looking a little dull and in need of a pick me up. Lastly, gel-based moisturisers are a must when a dewy and glowy skin look is needed and I flit between two creams, Murad’s Nutrient-Charged Water Gel for when I need to plump up my skin and The Body Shop’s Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser to enhance natural radiance. Both are lightweight yet pack intense moisture in to the skin, as well as leaving my complexion with the most gorgeous, dewy glow.
There is no lie that highlighters have been a game changer for many years and it still is the number one make up product to achieve a glow. Whether you want a sculpted look or an everyday illuminate, the quickest and easiest way is to use powder highlighter. There are so many good ones out there and my current favourite is Lottie London x Imogenation Ultra Glow Loose Highlighter. I love that it’s so finely milled and buildable so that extra bit of shine can be easily achieved. Another way to achieve a natural glowy look quickly is to use bronzer. Big, soft sweeps of bronzed powder over my face, concentrating on sides of forehead, cheeks and under the jawline can work wonders. A new go-to of mine is the Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer, this glides on like a dream and smells incredible. And last, but not least, a quick way to inject some colour is to use blusher and I am a massive fan of less is more, so small, gentle sweeps of blush on the cheeks is enough for a quick glow. The Zoeva Blush Palette in Nude Spectrum is perfect for everyday use, the texture of the powder is soft and the shades are natural which is great when you need a simple, pick me up glow.
