With us spending a lot more time at home these days, our skin is probably thanking us for not exposing it so much to the outside world full of dirt, grime and pollution. Having said that, it doesn’t mean we can loosen the strings when it comes to skincare, in fact, there is now more free time to explore different products, tools and techniques to improve on a skincare regime and get your skin in a tip-top condition. Whilst some of us are used to leaving it to the experts, that are beauticians to help us with our skin, with face treatments currently suspended, doing an ‘at home facial’ has never been so appealing, especially when you can use the time to treat yourself and your skin with the best skincare products.

My summer skincare routine is slightly different to my winter routine, I tend to go a lot lighter on texture and opt for products that refresh my skin as well as give me a radiant complexion. Constant use of SPF is also a must during the summer, even if you’re only popping out to get essentials, the sun can penetrate the skin through clouds, so it’s super important to wear it at all times.

Self-care at home is super popular nowadays, so don’t forget to ensure you have some ‘me’ time by treating your skin to the best it deserves. My summer at home skin routine is simple, yet effective and literally takes me 10 minutes and of course, if I am adding a bit of a pamper, such as a scrub and a mask, it’s usually around 30-35 minutes max. Below is a little step-by-step of my current routine:

Step one

Pre-cleanse and take off make up with micellar water, then cleanse twice with Biore’s Rose Quartz + Charcoal Daily Purifying Cleanser. This cleanser glides on like a dream and thoroughly cleanses my skin. Thanks to the charcoal extract, it penetrates deep in to my dirty pores and flushes them out. It’s the perfect if you have oily/combination skin like me.

Step Two

Next, I cool and tone my skin with Boots’s Glow Radiance Tonic. Firstly, I am absolutely digging the pink packaging of this range, secondly, it’s super affordable and lastly, it works a treat on my skin. It instantly refreshes and tones my skin and a little goes a long way, so it will last ages.

Step three

Serum is a must in any skincare routine, and following on from the Boots tonic, I use the Boots Glow Essence Serum to achieve a daily radiant glow. It’s gel-like in texture and instantly absorbs in to my skin giving me an instant dose of moisture. It smells amazing and as a base for moisturiser, it works incredibly well, leaving my skin feeling soft and smooth.

Step Four

The last and most important step, moisturiser and I absolutely adore the Ole Henriksen C-Rush Brightening Gel Crème. I’ve never tried moisturiser like it to be honest, it’s literally glowing skin in pot and that’s all we want for summer don’t we? As it says on the pot, it’s a gel-crème and it’s perfect my oily skin, as it’s lightweight, glides on the skin and absorbs like a dream. It smells great also, not very tangy, which I like and it gives me the most insane glow.

If was to go full on pamper, I would a few more steps which is scrub, mask and eye cream, but as a basic summer skin routine, the above four steps does it for me.
