four skincare tips for autumn

The colder weather is here, and that can wreak havoc on our skin. Chapped lips, flaking and dry skin, sound familiar? No matter the type of skin you have, it is important to take care of it when the weather turns.  I've got the answers on how you can take care of your skin for Autumn.

Moisturise

With the introduction of colder weather after a warm summer, we need to build back up and replenish the moisture in our skin. Moisturisers with ingredients such as Vitamin E and Sunflower oil will work wonders for your skin, bringing about a plump and soft feel. We recommend The Body Shop Vitamin Moisturizing cream; they even have a handy little spray version of this to rehydrate your skin on the go! We also recommend the Bobbi Brown Extra Repair Moisture Cream, which includes hydrating ingredients such as omega-rich sunflower oil and Shea butter and the Neutrogena range which leaves your skin silky soft. Ensure your make-up has a moisturiser in it too and is tailored for your skin type. There is an array of different make-up for sensitive skin, oily skin or dry skin on the market that you can adapt for the winter seasons.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating should be a vital part of your skincare routine. It doesn't necessarily have to be a really tough and sand-paper-like product. You just need to help your skin by exfoliating off all those dead skin particles. Exfoliating will help rid of your dry and flaking skin and aid your skin in rejuvenation, leaving you with a softer and silkier base. If you have sensitive skin, we recommend the Liz Earle Gentle exfoliator. For normal, dry, oily and combination skin, we recommend the Clarins One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser with Orange Extract.

Cleanse

Cleansing helps our skin rid of impurities which may build up over autumn and winter. You should do this once in the morning and once in the evening before going to bed. Even a dry skin type can become congested as when your skin is dry; it may overproduce sebum, leaving you thinking you have an oily skin type. To combat this, we recommend the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish; this comes in a variety of scents so you can pick one that suits you best. We also recommend the Origins A Perfect World Antioxidant Cleanser with White Tea which will leave you feeling like you have taken a trip to a spa!

SPF

The most important step in your skincare is always to add in a little SPF. Whether it be in your moisturiser or your foundation, the sun can still affect your skin even when the weather feels colder. Find what works for you as some SPF products can lead your skin to break out. The best formulas are ones with non-chemical products in such as titanium dioxide and zinc oxide.
