With the upcoming party season looming in (fingers crossed we all get to enjoy it with our loved ones this year), it’s time to start looking at and considering everything party related such as outfits, accessories and hair and make-up. It’s such an exciting time, seen as this time, last year, everything was so uncertain with the pandemic in full swing and with not knowing what type of festive season we will be having.

Now that pretty much all events are back up and running, evening dinners, nights out and weddings galore, it’s only right that we spend as much time as we can getting glammed up since we must have saved so much make up products this past year, I know I definitely did.

Whilst I’m not one to experiment a lot with base make up, I do love creating eye make up looks for different occasions. In this post, I’ve created two step by step guides, one that focuses on a chilled, day time look, using mostly browns/golds, perfect for weddings. And the second is a more glamorous, smokey blend, which is great for dinners out and all those upcoming parties.

Day Time Chill

With the focus being on a more easy-going look, I’ve used a range of matte colours to create the dimensions, bringing the darker shades on the inner corners, middle and the tops of the lids and lighter towards the ends and also blended in between. For lashes and eyeliner, I’ve gone for a thin line and classic volume lashes, finished off with a slick of dewy bronze gloss on the lips.

  1. Apply primer to the lid and let dry for two minutes
  2. Using a fluffy eye brush, lightly dust a layer of the lightest matte shade as a base
  3. Using a smaller eye brush, place the darkest shade on the inner corners, middle and ends of the eye
  4. Using the same brush, take the medium matte shade and blend in between
  5. Using a thin eyeliner, lightly draw a line across the lid, all the way to the end of the eye

Evening Glam

For this look, I’ve accentuated the eyes more, with a dark matte shade in the middle, and full-blown shimmer added to the ends and the top. I’ve opened up the eyes slightly with a thicker eye line, but kept the volume eyelashes the same. I’ve added in extra dimension to the skin with a cheek bone highlight and then mixed some of the highlight with the bronze gloss for the ultimate glam look.

  1. Apply primer to the lid and let dry for two minutes
  2. Use the same step by step guide for the day time look as a base
  3. Take a few dabs of the fine glitter pigment shadow and brush that over and up the eyelid
  4. Using a fluffy eye brush, dab the chunkier gold glitter and gently blend in between
  5. Using a small eye brush, take a few dabs of the darker brown glitter and place on the inner corners
  6. Using a thick eyeliner pen, lightly draw a line across the lid, all the way to the end of the eye
  7. For the eyebrows, use a brow brush and gently line and fluff out the brows, keeping it minimal

Let me know what you think of both looks and what type of make up you will be wearing for the event season.
